Job Summary
Lead Consultant, Civil Engineer responsible for directing design teams, preparing scope and proposals, coordinating with staff and stakeholders, and performing civil engineering design across erosion and sediment control measures, SPCC plans, site grading, hydraulics and hydrology analyses, and stormwater management. Responsibilities include preparing permit applications and responses, creating construction drawings and specifications, producing client-ready reports, evaluating design options with cost/benefit insight, mentoring junior staff, and fostering client relationships. Must be a Professional Engineer registered in North Carolina (or able to obtain within one year), with 7–10 years of experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D and Microsoft Office. Occasional travel to project sites and meetings is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer registration in North Carolina, or ability to obtain within one year
- 7-10 years of professional engineering experience
- Valid state driver’s license
- Must be willing to travel to project sites and business meetings, as required
- Project management experience and team leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Civil design software tools
- Proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles
- Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to junior-level team or project members
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
- Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by policies
- Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
