Lead Construction Superintendent

Job Summary
Direct day-to-day execution and coordination of assigned trades, scopes, and self-performed work to ensure safe, high-quality production aligned with approved scope, schedule, and work plans. Develop detailed work plans, secure permits and inspections, and maintain accurate daily field reports and safety documentation using construction management systems. Manage jobsite logistics, schedule status, and contingency plans while tracking production metrics and labor hours. Enforce safety and quality control policies, resolve jurisdictional disputes, and train direct reports on processes and completion tasks. Coordinate closely with the General Superintendent, project stakeholders, and trade contractors to maintain commitments and align with company standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- 7-10 years of experience on $15 million or larger commercial/ industrial construction projects in a superintendent role
- Experience leading components and/or a whole project
- OSHA 30 hour certified
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong technical and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
- Ability to work in a team environment; ability to collaborate on a daily basis with the project team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, safety and site operations software, project management software, and construction management software
- Knowledge of construction-documenting and drawing, with knowledge of all phases of construction
- Knowledge in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
- Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
- Ability to create a 'safety first' environment by showing a commitment to Zero Injury principles and sustainability practices
- Must live in Chicagoland or be willing to relocate to Chicago
- Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
