Job Summary

Lead Commissioning Engineer responsible for coordinating and executing all technical, construction, and commissioning activities on customer sites from mobilisation through final handover. Serves as a key technical leader on site, managing daily commissioning resources, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery, and maintaining compliance with GE Vernova’s standards. Responsibilities include leading testing and commissioning of substation equipment, preparing site documentation (RAMS, NCRs, TQs), acting as LV Authorised Person (Advanced), and coordinating with Site Managers and Project Engineers. The role requires strong HV substation expertise, experience with protection relays, SCADA, IEC 61850, and the ability to travel extensively across multiple countries. Fully remote position based in the UK; home-based with company car included. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, and demonstrated capability in delivering complex commissioning projects with a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong commissioning expertise with HV substation systems
  • Experience with HV/LV switchgear and protection relays
  • Knowledge of IEC 61850 protocols and SCADA systems
  • Proven fault-finding skills on protection schemes (Omicron, Programma, Megger)
  • Ability to travel extensively to field sites and work overtime as required
  • Strong communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
