Job Summary
Lead CNC Lathe Machinist responsible for department leadership, training staff, and production operations using CNC lathes in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. Set up CNC Lathe machines per blueprint specifications, select fixtures/tools/materials, and ensure timely, quality aircraft-part production. Act as liaison between Production Manager and machinists, assign jobs, monitor technique/quality/quantity, coach operators, provide daily direction and performance assessments, and coordinate with external vendors for tooling and servicing. Maintain strict adherence to safety, standard work, and process verification; oversee cross-functional teamwork, participate in safety and quality audits, and support continuous improvement using lean principles and ERP systems (Global Shop). Require a high school diploma or equivalent, ten-plus years in aerospace manufacturing, experience with Fanuc/CNC controls, GD&T knowledge, and strong organizational/communication skills; willingness to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Education
- Skilled Trade Certification, preferred
- Minimum of ten (10) or more years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environment
- Experience with Fanuc and/or CNC controls
- Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) or related software
- Excellent organizational skills (verbal and written) with an attention to detail and sense of urgency
- Understanding and ability to work within an ERP system (Global Shop)
- Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally
- Availability to work flexible schedules with varying hours to support customer commitments, including very early mornings and/or evenings
