Job Summary
Lead Closing Officer or Senior Closing Officer role overseeing end-to-end pre- and post-closing activities for complex commercial real estate loans for the Institutional Capital Group (ICG) within KeyBank Real Estate Capital. Serves as a subject-matter expert, coordinating with clients, attorneys, title and insurance providers, financial institutions, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate credit terms and high-quality execution across the closing lifecycle. Responsibilities include reviewing third-party reports, insurance certificates, funding notices, closing statements, and assisting with negotiation of loan documents; providing guidance and escalation support to Closing Officers and Lead Officers; overseeing post-closing requirements and loan modifications; driving process improvements for efficiency, risk controls, and client experience. Education and experience requirements include a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (with paralegal/law training or LPO license preferred) and 3+ years in banking/financial services, with strong knowledge of institutional CRE lending, loan documentation, syndications, and regulatory compliance. Work arrangement is Hybrid at the Brooklyn, OH location, with 2+ days in office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Paralegal training, law degree and/or LPO license (preferred)
- 3+ years of related experience, preferably in banking or financial services (required)
- Experience with closing process and commercial real estate loan financing including committed loan structures, REITs, title/liens, insurance, commercial loan documents, contracts, leases, AIA documents, project budgets and other legal documentation and compliance with governmental legal requirements
- Experience with multi-bank loan participations/syndications and secondary market standards
- Strong knowledge of commercial lending concepts
- Proficiency in commercial loan documentation and closing
- Strong knowledge of commercial loan accounting systems, including LIQ
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
