Job Summary
Conduct daily construction inspections, monitor work zone traffic and erosion control plans, and perform sampling and testing of materials and completed work. Maintain detailed records of contractor operations, verify dimensions, track work quantities for payment, and perform survey checks. Manage the team of inspectors by coordinating schedules, overseeing work and records, and ensuring compliance with plans and specifications. Requires current MDOT certifications, valid driver's license, and ability to safely operate vehicles on highways and construction sites. Full-time role in Grand Rapids, Michigan with paid vacation, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision insurance, company vehicle, and cellphone stipend.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 10 years relevant experience
- Experience in construction inspection
- Exposure to bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
- Degree in civil engineering
- Supervision of multiple inspectors
- Direct responsibility for all inspection requirements related to construction operations
- Current MDOT Certifications
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to be insurable
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites
- Passion for working outside
