Job Summary
Lead carpentry work includes framing roofs, installing railings and decking, framing stairs, and performing finish carpentry on outdoor living structures. You will read and communicate plans to the crew, train new employees, and maintain the balance between quality and efficiency. This role requires a valid driver's license, a personal truck for job-to-job tool transport, and the ability to work in all weather conditions. The position offers $27–$35 per hour plus benefits, including a 401(k) match, health reimbursement, paid time off, and overtime pay.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of related carpentry experience
- 2 years in outdoor living
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Willingness to work in the elements
- Excellent knowledge of how a house is built
- Ability to frame a roof (match soffit heights, figure custom rafters, set heights for wall and ridge beams, sidewall tie-ins, roof tie-ins, dry-in, flash and shingle)
- Proficient knowledge of layout for holes, floor framing, install railings, install decking, frame/finish stairs
- Ability to read and understand plans, and communicate those plans to crew
- Effective communicator with management, customers and other employees
- Ability to multitask, give directions and train new employees
- Working knowledge of the Residential Building Code (IRC/ICC) and how it applies to decks and roofs (patio covers)
