Job Summary
Lead Dock position coordinating dock workers and supervising freight loading/unloading. Responsibilities include operating a forklift, securing and pad-staging freight, checking for mis-loads, managing trailer movements, coordinating O/B dispatch, and assisting with HUB freight and dock assignments. Requires high school diploma or GED, 17+ years old, prior dock experience, forklift capability or certification preferred, strong communication and teamwork, ability to lift 70 lbs, and proficiency with AS/400/MS Office. Must be able to work all shifts including overtime and weekends; pre-employment drug screening and background check required. This role emphasizes leadership in the dock environment with regular attendance and adherence to safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 17+ years of age
- Prior dock experience
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred
- Stable employment history preferred
- Ability to operate a forklift (7500 lbs. vehicle) or previous forklift certification preferred
- Ability to push or pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70lbs
- Must be computer literate (knowledge of AS/400 and MS Office a plus)
- Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work as a team in the coordination and direction of work assignments to other dock workers
- Must have the ability to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends; must be dependable
- Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
- Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
- Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
