Lead CAD/Unix Administrator

Job Summary
Administer and support Unix/Linux servers hosting engineering and CAD applications, installing, configuring, and upgrading software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, and Siemens NX. Manage CAD application licensing using FlexNet/FlexLM tools and troubleshoot related issues while monitoring system performance to ensure high availability. Provide L2/L3 technical support for operating systems and applications, performing patching, backups, and disaster recovery activities. Automate administrative tasks using Shell, Bash, Python, or Perl scripting and collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to implement new solutions. Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with security policies and change management processes.
Required Qualifications
- 8-12 years of IT experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux administration (RHEL, Oracle Linux, SUSE, AIX, Solaris, or Ubuntu)
- Experience supporting CAD/PLM applications such as: AutoCAD, CATIA, Siemens NX, PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Autodesk products
- Experience with CAD license management tools such as FlexNet/FlexLM
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux commands, file systems, process management, and performance tuning
- Experience with Shell/Bash scripting and automation
- Knowledge of NFS, Samba, SSH, DNS, LDAP, and Active Directory integration
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware
- Understanding of storage, backup, and disaster recovery concepts
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to support mission-critical engineering applications with minimal downtime
- A proactive mindset with a focus on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement
Desired Qualifications
- Teamcenter or Windchill
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Certifications in Linux (RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, or equivalent)
- Experience supporting engineering or manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Exposure to configuration management tools such as Ansible
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Perl
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD tools
