Job Summary

Lead Apheresis Platelet Processing and Quarantine Laboratory operations by performing component production, complex testing, and STBTC quarantine procedures while maintaining strict regulatory compliance with Standard Operating Procedures. Provide technical direction to staff, train employees on quality assurance and safety protocols, and evaluate competency through direct observation and testing. Monitor inventory needs, order supplies, and operate required equipment within quality control limits, resolving discrepancies in quality control data and unusual test results. Maintain accurate documentation of quarantine products and component modifications, ensuring all laboratory functions align with BioBridge Global's mission and core values.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Applied Science major or equivalent
  • Five or more years of laboratory experience
  • Three or more years of Apheresis Platelet Processing and Quarantine Laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of departmental budget and ability to order supplies
  • Working knowledge of regulatory/quality requirements and performance within all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies
  • Working knowledge of equipment and procedures for various technologies
  • Ability to recognize and facilitate resolution of unusual results or difficulties encountered in all phases of laboratory work
  • Working knowledge in all aspects of technical procedures of a clinical laboratory
  • Competency in skills required for Apheresis Platelet manufacturing, Component QC, Product Quarantine, and labeling
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Skills to recognize unusual results and troubleshoot testing problems as soon as detected
  • Ability to identify root causes of problems and select the best course of action when circumstances require
  • Completed Train the Trainer
  • Capability of mentoring team members
  • Neat appearance and well groomed
  • Professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to employees regarding day-to-day operations to ensure quality and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to train staff in procedures and proctor competencies

  • Ability to correctly interpret test results
  • Ability to work with interruptions, meet deadlines, and perform accurate work and/or reports
  • Exceptional attendance as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Ability to assist in periodic review of SOPs
  • Ability to assist in the development of new SOPs and validations
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • May be required to work any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
  • Clinical Laboratory experience
  • Equipment validation experience
  • Quality control experience
  • Hematology experience
