Job Summary
Guide elementary-age participants through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning activities at the Before and After-School Enrichment program, supporting social emotional learning and skill building. Supervise children groups to ensure health and safety while providing guidance to staff overseeing activities. Plan and implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities within the provided curriculum, maintain site cleanliness, and prepare snacks. Professionally communicate with parents regarding daily progress and assume full program operation responsibility when designated staff are absent. Provide onsite support for the Play Everyday recess program at the school and attend required staff meetings and trainings. This full-time onsite role begins August 17 across Thurgood Marshall, Bailey Gatzert, and Sand Point Elementary locations, emphasizing a commitment to equity and community development.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- 2 or more years' experience with children; camps, child care, tutoring, and nannying
- Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
- Experience planning and implementing group activities
- Have completed 12 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework and have a GED or high school diploma
- Completion of minimum STARS required training
- Certification in CPR/First aid
- We require pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination
- Food worker card
- Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT
- Must be available for Monday – Friday 6:45am – start of schoolMonday – Friday end of school – 6:00pm
- Lead instructors will also provide 2 days of Play Everyday Support from 10:30am – 1:30pm
- Must adhere to abuse prevention policies, maintaining appropriate boundaries, completing required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and complying with mandated reporting requirements
- Responsible for ensuring staff are properly screened, trained, supervised and held accountable to the organization's abuse risk management standards
Desired Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- Leadership or supervisory experience (1-2 years)
- Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English
