Job Summary
Lead Before and After School Instructor-Highline School District (Full-Time) Guide elementary age participants through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning activities at a Before and After-School Enrichment program, supporting social emotional learning and skill building. Supervise groups to ensure health and safety while providing onsite support for the Play Everyday Program at Hazel Valley, North Hill, Des Moines, and Midway Elementary schools. Plan and implement culturally relevant activities, communicate with parents, and maintain site cleanliness. Full-time onsite role Monday through Friday from 6:45am to end of school, with additional support on non-school days and early release days. Start date 8/17.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- 2 or more years' experience with children; camps, child care, tutoring, and nannying
- Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
- Experience planning and implementing group activities
- Have completed 12 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework and have a GED or high school diploma
- Completion of minimum STARS required training
- Certification in CPR/First aid
- We require pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination
- Food worker card
- Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT
Desired Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- Leadership or supervisory experience (1-2 years)
- Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English
