Job Summary
Supervise the health and safety of children aged 5-12 under the Child Care Director, modeling values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Lead youth development programs focusing on healthy living and social responsibility while assisting the School Age Director with staffing, discipline, and incident reporting. Maintain accurate attendance and incident records for state licensing compliance, prepare daily supplies, and train staff in activities including swimming, teambuilding, and arts and crafts. Act as a leader in emergency situations by reporting accidents according to the Emergency Communication Action Plan and ensuring all participants follow the branch Emergency Operations Plan. Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings to advance the YMCA's mission of strengthening community foundations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with children in a supervised setting
- Proof of a negative TB test within the last 2 years
- Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2
- Medication Administration Training (MAT) Certification
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check
- Satisfactory completion of a sex offender registry check
- Satisfactory completion of a Child Protective Services check
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities
- Physical strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of students
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Complete and maintain required trainings to include but not limited to: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment
