Lead Auditor

Job Summary
Lead Auditor will oversee Senior and Staff Auditors and perform the more complex portions of audit engagements to review adequacy of internal controls, efficiency and effectiveness of operations, compliance with policies and regulations, risk management and governance processes. Duties include leading audit planning (risk assessments and audit programs), assigning fieldwork, performing complex audit fieldwork, documenting results, reviewing work and issues, drafting audit reports, ensuring adherence to budgets and deadlines, providing coaching to staff, coordinating with Audit Manager/Director, keeping current on relevant regulations for the financial services industry, and implementing best practices to improve audit efficiency. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business, CPA/CIA/CFE or candidacy, 5–7 years of financial institution audit experience, strong knowledge of COSO/SOX frameworks, ability to manage multiple assignments and travel as needed. The role requires effective communication, relationship-building, and commitment to Customers Bank’s values and policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business preferred
- Certification as a CPA, CIA, and/or CFE, or a candidate for such certification
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of financial institution audit or equivalent experience
- Proficient in applying professional auditing principles and practices (IIA IPPF)
- Knowledge of financial accounting and reporting concepts, controls over financial reporting, accounting department operations and general ledger systems, especially within the financial institutions or financial services industries
- Knowledge of internal control identification, evaluation and testing concepts under Sarbanes-Oxley and COSO 2013
- Ability to successfully manage multiple assignments simultaneously and oversee/manage assigned staff
- Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing clearly and concisely
- Ability to actively and skillfully conceptualize, apply, analyze and/or evaluate information generated by observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or communication
- Ability to formulate a sound decision using the available information
- Ability to effectively build relationships with constituents and co-workers
- Ability to manage own time, priorities, and resources to achieve goals and utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines
- Ability to work with Microsoft Suite and learn/work with other Customers Bank’s applications
- Ability to travel when needed
- Familiarity with AI or other automation tools
