Job Summary
Lead Health Information Specialist (LHIS) in Alexandria, VA, on-site with local travel, responsible for ROI-related workflows, processing medical record requests in HIPAA-compliant manner, supervising and mentoring team members, training on ROI processes and EMR systems, coordinating with supervisors on inventory and queue prioritization, handling client and internal escalations, and performing data entry and administrative duties while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality to support team productivity and quality goals.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in healthcare, medical records, HIM, or Release of Information (ROI) required
- Proficiency with computers, email systems, and standard office equipment
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Knowledgeable in ROI processes and EMR systems (required)
- Willingness and ability to travel locally on a weekly basis as needed
