Job Summary
Lead Architect responsible for architectural leadership of Tempo's product suite. Architect and oversee highly scalable, secure systems using Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) and AWS-native patterns. Architect and implement AI features into products (RAG patterns, prompt engineering, LLM orchestration) and champion Claude Code to improve developer experience. Master Atlassian Forge/Connect to build high-performance Jira/Confluence integrations. Align technical roadmaps with operational goals in collaboration with the VP of Engineering. Bring 10+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in a Lead Architect role for large-scale SaaS environments, deep cloud expertise (AWS Well-Architected Framework, Serverless, event-driven services), and strong backend (Kotlin, Java, Node.js) and frontend (React) skills. Proven ability to design, implement, and scale AI-driven features, maintain security best practices, and guide architectural modernization and AI strategy across enterprise products. First 90 days include discovery of current Forge implementations, launching an AI Best Practices pilot, and leading cross-team discussions to scale capabilities and Forge performance.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in software engineering
- 3+ years in a Lead Architect role for large-scale SaaS
- Experience with AWS and event-driven architectures
- Proficiency with Kotlin, Java, Node.js, and React
- Atlassian Forge/Connect experience
- Experience embedding AI features in products (RAG, LLM orchestration)
- Knowledge of Kafka/SNS/SQS
- AI security best practices
- Ability to design scalable, secure systems
- Strong collaboration with leadership and DevEx optimization
Desired Qualifications

- Experience with AI strategy and pilot programmes
- Experience with production-ready AI features in customer-facing products
- Experience in a role requiring independent technical leadership
