Lead, Applications Engineer, Silicone Carbide Materials

Job Summary
Lead role to develop, validate, and introduce graphite and silicon carbide materials into wide bandgap transistor processing, starting with crystal pulling and epitaxial growth; collaborate with potential customers to understand needs and failure modes; work with internal R&D on materials development and synthesis; characterize various material grades; coordinate with FEA modeling to evaluate material combinations; manage development schedules; build vendor/partner relationships to incorporate outside technologies into the materials portfolio; and develop scale-up plans after successful validation.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience; or 10+ years of experience in SiC wafer manufacturing, LED manufacturing, or wide bandgap semiconductor processing
- 3+ years of experience in Project Management preferred
- Ability for occasional travel globally
- DOE methodologies/tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in FEA modeling
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience in leading a development effort using a stage-gated tracking software
- Ability to work on projects in cross-functional manner
- Experience in ISO 9000/14000 environment a plus
- Capacity to comply with federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control law
