Job Summary
Lead Application Engineer within GE Vernova's Grid Integration and Stability (GIS) practice focused on power electronic/control of renewable generation, battery energy storage, and FACTS. Responsibilities include building and parametrizing simulation models for inverter-based resources (wind, solar, storage), evaluating grid code compliance, supporting development of IBR/DER products, performing transient studies with industry-standard tools, and communicating results via detailed reports and presentations. Requires advanced degree with substantial experience in power systems analysis, inverter-based resource control, and programming, along with ability to travel up to 10% and participate in industry groups.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or related field OR Master’s degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineering with 3 years of experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience performing transient analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, PSS/E, PowerFactory or PSLF
- Minimum three (3) years of experience with the use and application of programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN)
- Solid understanding of inverter-based resources (control system) design and application considerations
- Experience with steady state and dynamic analysis using large database simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSLF; experience with C, C++
