Job Summary
Lead anesthesia technicians, organize and coordinate daily activities of anesthesia staff, including scheduling and assigning tasks. Monitor job performance, coach team members to ensure standards are followed, and provide feedback for employee evaluations. Act as a resource to staff, managers, and physicians regarding anesthesia support services. Solve instrument issues, assist in the Quality Improvement Process, and help the Patient Care Manager with budgeting. Fulfill all obligations of the anesthesia technician role while adhering to Joint Commission requirements and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
- Certified Anesthesia Technician Certification (CER.A.T.) from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)
- Certified Anesthesia Technologist Certification (CER.A.T.T.)
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
- CER.A.T. or CER.A.T.T. certification obtained within two (2) years of hire
- RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support
- Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA)
- ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician by American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians within 365 days of hire
- Ability to learn and evaluate new equipment and procedures quickly
- Ability to perform work-lead responsibilities such as training and orienting new employees, assigning and reviewing work for completeness and accuracy, scheduling work, and other coordinating and support duties for a supervisor/manager
- Ability to respond with flexibility to unusual and emergent situations, remain calm in stressful and emergency situations, work different shifts and schedules as needed, work overtime when directed by management
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and prioritize duties during time of stress
- Knowledge of location, operation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies
