Job Summary
Senior/Lead Acupuncturist responsible for comprehensive TCM assessments, diagnosing a wide range of conditions, and delivering acupuncture with advanced needle techniques. Will integrate modalities such as moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, and acupressure; provide massage and myofascial release as needed; maintain detailed treatment records; educate patients on lifestyle and herbal/supportive therapies; mentor junior practitioners; participate in clinic quality improvements; and uphold professional and ethical standards in a leadership role within the clinic.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure & Credentials: Valid state acupuncture license; passing score on the NCCAOM examination or equivalent
- Clinical Experience: Minimum 5+ years of full-time clinical acupuncture practice with demonstrated expertise in treating complex and chronic conditions
- Advanced Training: Advanced or Master level training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, or Oriental Medicine from an accredited institution
- Anatomical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology as applied to acupuncture practice
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of acupuncture needle insertion techniques, sterile protocol, and advanced therapeutic modalities
- Patient Assessment Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough diagnostic evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and adjust protocols based on patient response
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex medical concepts in patient-friendly language
- Professional Development: Commitment to continuing education and staying current with evidence-based practice standards
- Advanced Specialization: Specialized training or certification in a specific area such as sports acupuncture, reproductive health, neurofunctional acupuncture, or pain management
- Research Experience: Experience with clinical research or participation in acupuncture outcome studies
- Additional Certifications: Certification in herbal medicine (NCCAOM Herbalist), functional medicine, or complementary bodywork modalities
- Community Involvement: Active participation in professional organizations, such as AAAOM or local acupuncture societies
