Job Summary
Negotiate with regional headquarters on promotions, ROI, and logistics while managing commercial budgets to support territory needs. Stimulate in-store sales alongside marketing team objectives and establish key client relationships to secure additional shelf space for Scotts brands. Manage monthly client forecasts, conduct sector and quarterly business reviews, and execute sales plans through visits to independent garden centers and distributors. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to meet sales and call objectives, including soliciting pre-order reservations at professional trade shows. Perform required administrative tasks, adhere to company policies, and lead staff by communicating mission, vision, and cultural attributes.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education OR equivalent field sales experience
- Five years of field sales and merchandising experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and potential partners
- Negotiation and persuasion capabilities
- Excellent sales presentation skills and ability to speak to large groups
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Valid driver's license for designated territory(s)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Availability for evening and weekend work
- Availability for regular travel across the territory including overnight stays
- Ability to work overtime or extended hours as needed by the company
