Job Summary
Tactical Vehicle Mechanic – Armament responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining armament systems on armored and artillery platforms (e.g., M1 Abrams tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and Howitzers such as M109 Paladin) to ensure weapon systems are fully operational, safe, and compliant with U.S. Army standards. Duties include troubleshooting, bore sighting, calibration, functional testing of weapon systems, servicing fire control and recoil systems, following Technical Manuals and Army maintenance procedures, documenting maintenance actions in GCSS-Army, and providing guidance to junior mechanics. Requires ability to read schematics/manuals, lift heavy components, and obtain/maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship or eligible green card status is required. Location involves on-site maintenance in Germany (Mannheim) with potential deployment considerations within Europe; visa/work-permit requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Technical training in armament systems preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tactical vehicle and artillery maintenance with armament systems
- Experience with Abrams Tank Systems Maintainer (91A), Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer (91M) and Small Arms/Artillery Repairer (91F)
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- U.S. citizen or U.S. Green Card holder with residence in the U.S. within the last 3 years (for eligibility and security clearance)
- Valid driver’s license
- Passport with at least 12 months validity and 6 blank pages
