Job Summary
Supervise the mechanical crew and perform repairs on LCAC machinery, including adjusting engines, gearboxes, props, and shafts using hand tools, jacks, and cranes. Assemble gear systems, align frames, and fit bearings for hydraulic and pneumatic equipment while examining parts for damage with precision measuring tools. Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment, then test products after repair to ensure compliance with specifications. Research, order, and maintain parts inventory, adhering to technical documentation and reporting deviations. Operate mechanical precision measuring equipment and interpret blueprints and technical manuals. Work in open-air or confined spaces with varying temperatures, wearing required PPE, and perform tasks involving lifting up to 50 lbs, standing on varied surfaces, and climbing ladders.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Certificate from a college or technical school
- Equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical role
- Industrial and/or marine advanced mechanical experience
- Journeyman 1: 1-3 years
- Journeyman 2: 3-5 years
- Journeyman 3: 5+ years
- 2+ years Navy ship repair experience (shipyard, contractor, government)
- Ability to comprehend and utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals to weld metals
- Must have strong work ethic
- Self-motivated
- Able to multitask
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines
- Must be able to work independently
- Understanding of Ship repair industry
- Must be DBIDS/TWIC credential eligible
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
Desired Qualifications
