LC Safety Specialist

Job Summary
The Safety Specialist will enable safe work execution during routine operations, turnarounds, and capital projects across an assigned refinery area. Responsibilities include coaching regulatory standards and company policies, identifying unsafe conditions, mitigating risks, participating as a member of the Emergency Response Team, and maintaining qualifications as a fire brigade member. Job duties encompass area safety inspections/audits with corrective actions, pre-job safety reviews, coordination of turnarounds and maintenance outages, participation in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) meetings, incident investigations, safe work permitting, and emergency response training. Preferred candidates hold CSP/COSS/CHST certifications and have refinery or petrochemical experience, with strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role may require extended hours and working at elevated heights. Remote-work options are available for eligible positions, with department/location-specific variations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health or related field with five (5) years of job-related experience; Associate degree with eight (8) years of job-related experience; or High School Diploma with ten (10) years of job-related experience
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS), and/or Certified Health & Safety Technician (CHST) highly preferred
- Experience in a refinery or petrochemical industry preferred
- Sound understanding of regulatory requirements as related to a PSM-regulated facility
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with various software applications including Microsoft office products
- Ability to wear additional personal protective equipment (respiratory protection, fall protection, chemical protective clothing, etc.)
- Ability to work from elevated heights
- Ability to work extended hours including emergency call outs
- Hourly employees must be qualified as a temporary supervisor according to the Supervisor Development Process (OSDP, MSDP, or LSDP) and meet minimum qualifications listed above
