Job Summary
Lawyer role with two posts (Disputes and Safeguarding) within Suffolk County Council. Responsible for civil litigation and dispute resolution, advocacy, high-quality legal advice to the Council on children’s matters (Safeguarding) and other enforcement matters (Planning, Fire & Rescue, Trading Standards). Grade 6 or Grade 7 depending on experience; Grade 7 requires 3+ years post-qualification experience. Hybrid working in Ipswich, Suffolk. Requires Solicitor/Barrister/Legal Executive status with honours in law and potential post-graduate qualification; includes opportunities for line management of paralegals/caseworkers and extensive stakeholder engagement. Internal redeployment posting; application requires supporting statement and CV.
Required Qualifications
- To be a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
- Honours degree (preferably in law)
- Post-graduate level qualification in law or equivalent experience (Desirable)
- Grade 7: 3+ years of legal experience since qualification, and/or ability to demonstrate relevant legal skills, ability and 3 years+ experience as a solicitor, barrister or legal executive, in the designated legal discipline(s)
- Grade 6: Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive; honours degree (preferably in law) or significant experience as a Lawyer; post-graduate level qualification in law or equivalent experience (Desirable)
