Job Summary
Conduct armed patrols of terminal areas, parking facilities, and perimeter zones while monitoring access points and verifying credentials. Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations with problem-solving coordination, and provide customer service to passengers, employees, and contractors by executing security procedures and emergency responses. Prepare accurate incident reports and patrol logs, maintain a visible presence to deter prohibited activity, and exercise sound judgment under stressful conditions. Coordinate with airport operations and public service personnel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)
- Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
- Valid Driver's License
- Law Enforcement Officer License
- 22+ years of age
- Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs: Certified State law enforcement recruit training, Certified County law enforcement recruit training, Federal law enforcement training, Programs approved by the Director
- No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings
- Must be able to supervise Contractor's personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees
- Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties
- Must be able to exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of their official duties
- Be able to successfully pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office
- Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State
- Pass and complete a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months
- Pass a 12-panel drug test and pass all future random drug testing
- Correctable, vision to 20/30 each eye with normal color vision
- Able to hear at a normal conversational level
- Have at least 2 years of law enforcement, military police, or corrections experience
- Be a graduate of a law enforcement or military police training program or equivalent
- Possess a Peace Officer Certificate
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
- Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance
- Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions, under stressful conditions
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in English
- Maturity in conduct behavior and attitude
- Ability to take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one's actions
- Alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct
- Strong moral character. Must possess high standards and be truthful
- Courtesy in inter-person relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement and security personnel
- Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for their assigned Post/duties
- In good physical health and be fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking patrolling for an entire shift(s), climbing stairs, running and self-defense
