Job Summary
Collaborate with core emergency services and law enforcement to identify clients in crisis, reduce unnecessary Emergency Department utilization, and divert inpatient psychiatric admissions through counseling and therapeutic support. Provide mental health crisis assessment, intervention, and brief treatment services while proactively reaching out to at-risk clients for disposition planning and linkage to ongoing care. Work with Agency staff to reduce incarceration rates and over-utilization of emergency personnel by addressing primary mental health needs. Available for shifts including overnights and weekends; requires valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Must be willing to provide services in clients' homes and community settings
- Must be available to work shifts as assigned including overnights and weekends
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must have reliable transportation with personal automobile liability insurance coverage at or above the levels mandated by the State of Vermont
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check after hire
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree in clinical psychology, social work or related field is preferred
- Experience working in crisis, emergency room, or community-based services preferred
- Demonstrates knowledge of psychopathology, crisis theory and other behavioral health concerns and primary modalities of psychotherapeutic intervention
- Experience in crisis intervention services, risk management, assessment of suicide potential and integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders preferred
- Ability to join with clients and families in distress and work with them in disposition planning
