Job Summary
Coordinate with law enforcement officers responsible for NamUs case input and train them on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Manage day-to-day operations of the program, support ongoing initiatives, and continue national outreach efforts. Provide and manage free forensic services including DNA, dental, fingerprinting, Forensic Genetic Genealogy, and anthropology. Deliver technical assistance to state and local users while evaluating the impact of NamUs to aid medicolegal and investigative efforts. This full-time remote role supports the National Institute of Justice with national coverage, requiring occasional time zone adjustments. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and undergo a Moderate Risk background investigation.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in criminal justice or other related field
- A minimum of 3 years' experience
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time
- Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word
- Frequently moves standard office equipment up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to work indoor conditions 90% of the time
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Must undergo a successful Moderate Risk or T2 background investigation
- Must comply with all DOJ IT Rules of Behavior, confidentiality practices, and any third-party non-disclosure agreements
- Must be U.S. citizens
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
- All employees are subject to random drug screens throughout the term of the employment
Desired Qualifications
- Law enforcement experience is highly desirable
- Experience with training delivery
