Job Summary
Law Clerk for Constitutional Law at CAC I supporting Department of Justice investigations and litigation. Responsibilities include intensive document reviews to identify relevant documents, conducting legal and factual research, preparing draft legal documents (motions, briefs, memoranda), reviewing documents for relevance and privilege, and assisting attorneys across discovery through trial. Focused work with the Environmental and Natural Resources Division (5th Amendment Takings litigation) and discovery projects (deposition prep, federal filings, bluebooking). Requires strong written and oral communication, proficiency with legal research tools (LEXIS, Westlaw), and familiarity with eDiscovery applications and Relativity. Opportunities for growth, tuition reimbursement for Relativity certifications, and travel as needed; pay follows Service Contract Labor Standards with minimum hourly wage of $38.77 and CONUS travel. The role emphasizes integrity, autonomy, and ongoing learning within a culture of mission-driven public service.
Required Qualifications
- Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study
- Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Hands-on familiarity with computer applications including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging
- Familiarity with eDiscovery applications and resources
- Relativity experience (desired)
- Courtroom presentation experience (desired)
- Pre-trial preparation experience (desired)
- Travel experience (CONUS) and trial support experience (desired)
- eDiscovery certifications (desired)
- Prior experience supporting the Federal Government (desired)
