Job Summary
Collect soiled linens and resident clothing from designated areas, then sort by fabric type and color before operating commercial washers and dryers safely. Wash, dry, fold, hang, and distribute clean laundry to resident rooms while labeling personal items and maintaining accurate inventory. Inspect linens for damage, keep work areas free of hazards, and dispose of contaminated items per infection control standards. Maintain confidentiality of resident information and assist with assigned housekeeping duties. Work in a long-term care facility environment, potentially on weekends or holidays, while adhering to all state regulations and facility policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment safely
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to work in a warm environment around laundry equipment
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and laundry products
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Previous laundry, housekeeping, or healthcare experience
- Experience in a long-term care facility
