Job Summary
Wash, dry, iron, fold, and store hotel linens while treating stains and maintaining linen supply levels for guest occupancy. Collect soiled linen from carts, change bed linens and shower curtains, and ensure laundry areas and equipment remain clean and functional. Monitor chemical levels, report supply needs and safety hazards immediately, and comply with EPA and OSHA regulations regarding blood-borne pathogens and hazardous materials. Operate laundry equipment safely and assist with special projects, inventory, and room support as assigned. Report to the Head Housekeeper with a flexible schedule available year-round.
Required Qualifications
- knowledgeable about OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standards
- follow the required procedure for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood
- able to understand the English language
- available to work every day of the year
- good physical and mental health
- capable of performing tasks that require repetitive motions
- able to move continuously during work hours
- able to stand for eight (8) hour periods
- able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds from the ground to above head level
- able to work in an environment that can be humid, hot, cold and damp
- Must be qualified to operate various kinds and types of laundry equipment safely and properly
- Consistently reports to work at the scheduled time
- Must work with various cleaning chemicals and solutions and comply with EPA and OSHA regulations and other safety policies of the hotel and Pacific Inns
- Follow all clean linen procedures including drying, ironing, folding and storing all laundry in linen closets and designated areas by designated persons
- Represent the hotel in a positive manner at all times
- Communicates effectively with Front Desk and Maintenance as needed
- Can be assigned projects of making beds, sanitizing coffee makers, or cleaning rooms
- Cleaning and restocking linen rooms
- Helps complete monthly inventory
- Acknowledge all guests with a smile
