Laundry Assistant

Job Summary
Wear protective clothing and observe infection control measures while sorting laundry by colour and separating dirty items from contaminated ones. Wash clothes on correct cycles, including the 71° C sluice boil cycle for soiled items, and repair torn linen as required. Check and renew marking tapes, return laundry to residents' rooms daily, and ensure machines remain clean and safe by defluffing dryers after every cycle. Maintain a disinfected laundry floor, keep soap and towels available, and attend staff meetings, training, and fire drills. Communicate with colleagues, adhere to the Health and Safety Policy, and report any accidents effectively to ensure a secure environment for residents and staff.
Required Qualifications
- To be diligent and careful to wash clothes on the correct cycle according to the manufacturers instructions.
- To withdraw torn linen and clothes and repair as required.
- Check all marking and name tapes and renew as necessary.
- To be familiar with fire procedures and to attend fire drills and training as requested.
- To be familiar with and to comply with the Health and Safety Policy and to attend training sessions as requested.
- Demonstrate outstanding time management, problem solving, organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and confidence communicating with people at all levels whilst maintaining confidentiality when required
- A strong service mindset and flexible can-do approach.
- Strong judgement and decision-making ability
- Have energy, enthusiasm and confidence to take the initiative
