Laundry Assistant

Job Summary
Gather dirty laundry at assigned times, load washers, and prepare linens for morning changes while keeping dirty and clean items strictly separated. Check water temperatures to ensure they reach at least 150°, clean lint traps per policy, and monitor detergent and softener levels. Operate washing machines and dryers according to manufacturer and center procedures, removing clean laundry without touching the floor, then fold and store items as instructed. Keep floors, walls, and equipment clean, report equipment issues to the supervisor, and shut down all machinery if a fire alarm sounds. Follow federal, state, and center policies and safety procedures when using chemical agents.
Required Qualifications
- Must be available for rotating weekends
- Must be available for morning shifts
- Must be able to lift laundry
- Must be able to operate washing machines
- Must be able to operate dryers
- Must be able to check water temperature
- Must be able to clean lint traps
- Must be able to check levels of laundry detergents, softeners and bleach
- Must be able to keep floors, walls and equipment clean
- Must be able to remove clean laundry from washer and load dryer
- Must be able to fold and store dry clothes
- Must be able to inform supervisor of equipment problems
- Must be able to shut down all equipment in laundry when fire alarm sounds
- Must be familiar with and follow all federal, state and center policies and procedures
- Must be able to work safely following proper procedures when using chemical agents
