Job Summary
Receive and sort laundry by type, condition, and weight, then wash and dry items following specific machine instructions and designated times. Deliver personal clothing while labeling it to respect resident dignity, and remove torn linens for repair or destruction. Complete laundry room cleaning duties, participate in in-service programs, and adhere to infection control policies. Contribute to quality management by completing monthly audits and advising supervisors of safety incidents or physical plant concerns. Deal tactfully with residents, families, and visitors while maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 10 education or equivalent
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Physically able to carry out the laundry program
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents and staff
- Ability to work independently or as a team
- Good understanding of proper laundry processes and infection control
- Must be flexible to changing needs of the residents, staff and operational issues, as they are presented
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
