Job Summary
Laundry Aide transfers wet linens to dryers and sets the dryer to the correct temperature for linens being dried. Delivers clean linens to the linen room and/or residents' rooms within the allotted timeframe. Checks resident articles for proper identification and marks personal items as needed. Sorts personal items by resident room and delivers/puts away items with accurate names and room numbers to ensure timely delivery. Maintains cleanliness of the laundry room, carts, and assigned area to meet safety and cleanliness standards. Immediately reports equipment malfunctions to the department manager or supervisor. Cross-trained to perform essential functions of the washing machine operator position. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Six months experience in an institutional laundry preferred
- Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment
- Good manual dexterity and motor skills
- Basic math skills
- Mechanically inclined
- Must be able to lift 10-70lbs and push/pull heavy carts
- Ability to stoop, bend, walk and stand for extended periods of time
