Job Summary
Laundry Aide performs washing, drying, ironing and distribution of garments and linens in a healthcare facility, adhering to safety and infection-control policies. Responsibilities include loading washers/dryers, folding linens, ironing as assigned, assembling supply packs, delivering linens to residents’ rooms, recording linen requests, reporting garments needing repair, distributing garments, and assisting with inventory and PPE/policy adherence. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand and walk for long periods, and work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed; full-time weekday schedule with alternating weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of and ability to operate washers, dryers, irons and related equipment
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to learn routine tasks quickly
- Ability to perform a variety of repetitive manual tasks that require agility and manual dexterity
- Previous laundry aide experience preferred but not required
- Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 30 pounds and carry such weight a minimum distance
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods
- Must be able to work outside of normal work hours including nights, holidays, and weekends as needed
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility
