Job Summary
Collect and sort soiled linen, presoak items, and load washers with appropriate chemicals and cycles. Dry linens using correct temperature and time settings, then fold and distribute clean laundry to residents or storage carts. Press and fold personal laundry, checking for repairs or label needs. Escort soiled carts to holding areas and perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning of the department. Adhere to infection control procedures for isolation linens and maintain confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Complete two loads per hour while communicating effectively with residents and staff. Work every other weekend shifts and holidays as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Must have knowledge of laundry machines and chemical cleaning solutions
- Must be able to complete two loads of laundry per hour
- Communicate effectively with elderly or disabled residents, other employees, and visitors
- Dependable and work independently as well as under supervision
- Tolerate frequent exposure to blood, body tissues, and bodily fluids with occasional exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases
- Tolerate frequent exposure to laundry chemicals
- Tolerate frequent exposure to latex, and plastic materials used for personal protective equipment
- Position is posted for Full-Time
- Position does require every other weekend shifts and holiday rotation
Desired Qualifications
- Previous laundry experience in industrial or commercial setting
