Laundry Aide Healthcare (Every Other Weekend)

Job Summary
The Laundry Aide provides quality laundry services to facility residents, operating laundry equipment to wash, dry, fold and distribute clean linen and personal clothing. Maintains a clean, orderly work area, assists with adequate linen supply, follows universal precautions and infection-control policies, and adheres to safety rules including reporting accidents and hazardous conditions. The role requires ability to read labels in English, teamwork, calmness under stress, physical ability to lift and move heavy laundry bags (about 40 pounds), climb stairs, and perform duties with attention to sanitation and safety. Experience in a hospital or long-term care facility is preferred. The position is located in Cromwell, CT, with benefits available for 30+ hour employees.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read labels and follow oral and written instructions in English
- Ability to read and understand labels and safety instructions and other department policies and procedures
- Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take appropriate actions
- Ability to visually assess all aspects of laundry department
- Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures and to hear and respond to pages
- Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop and have fine hand coordination
- Ability to lift and carry laundry bags of approximately 40 pounds, stock shelves and laundry carts, push carts and climb stairs
- Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred
