Job Summary
Launch Operations Technician (Starship) – Night Shift is responsible for the integration of secondary structure, avionics, and stage propulsion components into the vehicle’s primary structure, requiring both avionics and mechanical integration skills along with pneumatic and avionics checkout. Responsibilities include staging, setup, assembly, testing, and installation of flight hardware; using precision-calibrated tools; hands-on operation with large and small assemblies; overseeing heavy rigging; operating personnel platforms; reading engineering drawings and work instructions; adhering to procedures and test instructions; using various mechanical tools; collaborating with production engineers to develop and document integration processes; ensuring all production services are performed on time, safely, and professionally; performing fluids and pneumatic testing. Basic qualifications include a high school diploma and 2+ years of relevant hardware installation experience; FAA A&P license is preferred. Additional requirements include travel up to 30%, exposure to fumes/noise, night shift hours (6:00 PM–6:00 AM) with extended hours and weekends as needed, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, etc.). ITAR compliance is required for eligibility to work on SpaceX programs; SpaceX is an equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- 2+ years of professional propulsion, mechanical, automotive, electrical, or avionics hardware installation experience
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license (preferred)
- Experience in aerospace industry, aviation, military, or high-reliability environments (preferred)
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Ability to pass pre-employment questionnaire/medical review
- ITAR compliance: U.S. citizen or eligible for required authorizations (per ITAR)
