Job Summary
Operate the yacht club's launch vessel safely between King Island Marina and designated coastal locations, transporting members, guests, and supplies while adhering to U.S. Coast Guard regulations. Conduct pre-departure and post-operation vessel inspections, manage fueling, and assist passengers with boarding and disembarking. Monitor weather, tides, and navigational hazards; communicate via marine radio and respond to emergencies such as man-overboard situations. Maintain accurate operational logs and provide passenger safety briefings. Support club events with on-water assistance and uphold professional customer service standards. This part-time, seasonal role requires a USCG OUPV or Master license, TWIC, and CPR certification, with hours varying based on member demand and special events.
Required Qualifications
- Valid United States Coast Guard (USCG) Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV/Six-Pack) License or USCG Master License (25, 50, or 100 Ton)
- Current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), if required
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Ability to safely operate passenger-carrying vessels in coastal waters
- Knowledge of applicable Coast Guard regulations, navigation rules, and maritime safety procedures
- Experience docking, maneuvering, and operating small commercial vessels in varying weather and sea conditions
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Previous launch service, yacht club, marina, or commercial passenger vessel experience
- Familiarity with local waterways, harbor operations, and navigational aids
- Experience supporting sailing events, regattas, or marine hospitality operations
- Additional marine safety certifications
