Lateral Patrol Officer or New Hire

Job Summary
Patrol City streets and neighborhoods in a vehicle, bicycle, or motorcycle to deter crime, apprehend violators, and enforce municipal ordinances. Respond to radio calls for complaints, criminal events, and disputes; secure crime scenes; interview victims, witnesses, and suspects; and collect evidence. Enforce traffic laws, investigate accidents, and direct traffic. Serve arrest warrants, process suspects, and testify in court. Complete shift paperwork, incident reports, and state documents. Maintain assigned vehicles, firearms, and equipment. Provide school security, assist ambulance services, and escort bank deposits. Engage in community relations events and attend roll call and mandatory training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two months of experience in law enforcement
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
- Valid Kentucky driver's license
- Ability to complete required basic training and required annual training as a Peace Officer
