[LATAM] QA Automation Engineer – KDS Squad

Job Summary
QA Automation Engineer for the Kitchen Display System (KDS) squad. This automation-first role focuses on owning and expanding automated test coverage for a critical restaurant-operations platform. You’ll design and execute UI, API, regression, and smoke tests, build scalable automation solutions within an established framework, and partner with engineers, product managers, and QA to ensure quality throughout the SDLC. Responsibilities include maintaining regression pipelines, investigating defects, improving test reliability, and contributing to CI/CD tests and release validation. The role emphasizes AI-assisted tools to enhance test design, automation development, code reviews, troubleshooting, and engineering productivity. Strong Java programming, experience with Appium/Selenium/Playwright, REST API testing, Maven, Git, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum are required; bonus experience with Kotlin, Docker, Azure DevOps, KDS/restaurant tech, and distributed testing. The position is based in Rosslyn, VA with remote options for Argentina.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years hands-on QA Automation or SDET or Quality Engineering experience
- Strong programming skills in Java
- Experience UI automation frameworks: Appium, Selenium, Playwright or similar
- Experience designing and implementing scalable automated test solutions
- Experience testing REST APIs and working with JSON payloads
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
- Experience with Maven, Git, and modern software development workflows
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Ability to understand and contribute to large codebases
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, test generation, documentation, or code review
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Bonus: experience with restaurant tech, POS systems, KDS, Kotlin, Docker, Azure DevOps, distributed test execution, performance testing
- Bonus: Desktop/Electron testing
