Job Summary
Laser Operator for night and day shifts in an in-person Altoona, IA facility. Responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting equipment, interpreting blueprints/CAD files, programming CNC controls, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting, using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions, handling materials with forklifts, collaborating with fabrication/QA teams to meet production deadlines, maintaining a clean, safe work area, and documenting production data for quality assurance and process improvement. Emphasis on safety, precision manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience operating laser cutting machines within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Strong knowledge of CNC machine controls, CNC programming, and software
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools
- Knowledge of materials handling equipment such as forklifts; certification preferred
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality checks
- Factory experience in manufacturing facilities emphasizing machining, fabrication, or packaging operations
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control standards
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
