Job Summary
Large Animal Surgery Clinician at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Provide surgical and medical care for diverse species (equine, bovine, ovine, caprine, porcine, select exotics) with emphasis on the Large Animal Hospital’s emergency service, including daytime and after-hours on-call coverage. Collaborate with a clinical team, supervise and participate in on-call responsibilities, and communicate clearly with clients and referring veterinarians. Approximately 70% of effort devoted to clinical service, with opportunities to participate in daytime surgical services, and 30% dedicated to teaching fourth-year veterinary and veterinary nursing students in clinical, surgical, and emergency care settings. One-year position with potential renewal based on performance and hospital needs; benefits included.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree
- Must be able to work in stressful and emergency situations without direct supervision
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills, ability to read and write English
