Job Summary
Lao Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor will provide virtual language instruction to improve proficiency across Listening, Reading, and Speaking (ILR 0+ - 3) and deliver LREC program support. Responsibilities include designing and delivering blended-learning lessons, developing lesson plans and materials, assessing student progress via DLPT/OPI/ILR, reviewing assignments, maintaining a positive virtual classroom, and collaborating with Managers/Coordinators to address curriculum gaps. Must be a US citizen with native or near-native Lao capabilities, comfortable teaching through virtual environments, and able to meet English-language qualifications (ILR 2+ or ACTFL OPI or TOEFL/ECL) and target language qualifications. Desired qualifications include experience with online platforms (CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle) and a Bachelor's Degree. Remote position stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA; requires access to required tech and high-speed internet.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- Educated native speaker of the foreign language or near-native capability in listening, reading, and speaking with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent
- Experience in providing various levels of foreign language instruction through a virtual environment
- Understanding of cultural, social, and political environment of the foreign language region
- Experience in creating blended learning lessons and tailoring materials to customer needs
- Access to computer with Windows, webcam, headset with microphone, cellular phone or smart tablet, and high-speed internet
- English language qualifications: ILR level 2+ or ACTFL OPI or TOEFL/TOEIC equivalents as provided
- Target language qualifications: ILR 2+ or ACTFL Advanced-High or equivalent
- Experience using online platforms (e.g., CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle)
- Bachelor's Degree is desired
- Experience instructing adult learners in L/R/S measured by DLPT/OPI
