Language Lead- Malagasy

Job Summary
Define Malagasy language standards, maintain glossaries and localization databases, and act as the final authority on linguistic quality for translation vendors and freelance linguists. Perform rigorous quality assurance checks on critical user-facing content including app interfaces, marketing campaigns, and legal documents. Translate, transcreate, and post-edit high-priority content from English or French into Malagasy while ensuring cultural appropriateness and brand consistency for local audiences. Collaborate with project managers and product teams to align localization efforts with launch timelines, and support external translators with context and onboarding. Requires native Malagasy fluency, professional English proficiency, and mastery of CAT tools like Trados and Phrase. Deadline for applications is July 14, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Native-level proficiency in written and spoken Malagasy, with an exceptional grasp of local idioms, cultural nuances, and contemporary language trends
- Full professional proficiency in English
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of professional translation/localization experience
- Mastery of modern CAT tools (e.g., Trados, MemoQ, Phrase, Lokalise) and Translation Memory management
- Strong communication skills

- Based in or having recent, extensive living experience in Madagascar
