Job Summary
Manage daily stable operations by feeding, exercising, and grooming horses while ensuring facility cleanliness and animal health. Hold animals for veterinary and farrier services, assist with breeding and foaling, and provide support for handling problem animals. Oversee a team to maintain high-quality standards, resolve operational challenges, and foster strong customer relations. Work M-F, 7-4pm with additional weekend hours as needed at a rate of $21-$25/hr in Hampton, VA. Prior experience in equine care is required.
Required Qualifications
- prior experience and demonstrated knowledge of equine care
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands
- The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The employee is required to work in various temperatures from hot to cold
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and distance vision acuity to operate mobile equipment
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to learn basic principles and techniques
- Ability to perceive identification numbers marked on material
- Ability to read and understand numbers and volumes
- Ability to talk or hear
