Landfill Laborer

Job Summary
Perform facility grounds upkeep including mowing, trimming, trash removal, fence building, and odor control system maintenance. Operate skid steer, sweeper, flush trucks, and fuel vehicles while directing traffic and assisting with equipment services. Wash equipment using pressure washers, dig tracks, and apply Alternate Daily Cover as needed. Assist with housekeeping in maintenance shops and offices, build erosion control measures, and perform custodial duties in offices. Direct traffic on or around the landfill and professionally interact with internal and external customers. Work continuously outside in changing conditions with occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
- Must be able to understand the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Continuously lifting/carrying a max of 10 lbs
- Frequently pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbs
- Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 35 lbs
- Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
- Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
- Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
- Occasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
- Frequently climbing and/or balancing
- Rarely sitting
- Continuously standing
- Frequently walking
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste
- Must perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with various hand tools and equipment is preferred
- Mechanical aptitude
- Self-starter, strong work ethic, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Safety-focused mindset
