Job Summary
The Field Manager supports Blackfeet Community College by integrating outdoor laboratory and experiential classroom operations through culturally informed land stewardship, land-based education, and community outreach. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining humane, culturally relevant conservation plans; monitoring Iinii health and environment; coordinating veterinary care and herd documentation; implementing grazing and pasture management; maintaining permits and compliance with USDA animal health requirements; supporting calving season monitoring and experiential learning for students and community members; and advancing land-use research and curriculum development. Required skills include knowledge of large livestock and bison behavior, veterinary concepts, pasture/rangeland management, fencing and facilities maintenance, data reporting, and effective communication with diverse stakeholders. Abilities emphasize independent decision-making in outdoor environments, risk mitigation, mentoring students, safety, and culturally responsive practices, with a focus on integrating Piikani ecological knowledge into agricultural programming and land stewardship.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Arts (AA) degree required.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Animal Science, Agriculture, Cultural Resource Management, Tribal Resource Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, professional training, certifications, and directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of preferred educational requirements.
