Job Summary
Land Survey Crew Chief responsible for delivering high-quality surveying services, leading a survey crew, coordinating with technicians and engineers, operating total stations and GPS (static and RTK), and supporting projects remotely with significant travel (2-4 weeks minimum at a time). This contract-to-hire role emphasizes leadership, field execution on construction sites, and adherence to safety standards (OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid). Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history; able to handle physically demanding tasks and travel-heavy schedules; associate degree in a related field preferred. Salary in the range of $120,000–$140,000 per year.
Required Qualifications
- Proven leadership skills in managing and mentoring a survey crew
- Proficient in operating total stations and GPS in static and RTK modes for various surveying tasks
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a capacity to work independently
- Basic proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Experience in Land Development (Commercial and Residential) and Public Infrastructure projects
- Capability to coordinate activities with surveying technicians and engineering staff
- Knowledge of searching for and recovering Public Land Survey System monuments
- Physical ability to navigate construction sites and remote locations
- Ability to carry survey equipment up to 50 pounds
- Able to work long hours and travel (2-4 weeks minimum at a time)
- Associate degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred)
- Proven leadership experience in a contract-to-hire environment
